    It's too bad Illyana isn't the best of mages in the game? Seriously.... a focus on the STR growth?

    If I remember right though, that strength was fairly useful in Radiant Dawn, with STR taking the function of CON and allowing her to use heavy thunder tomes with less speed penalties.

    That's always how it worked, at least as far back in the NA released Fire Emblems as I can remember. Attack speed was always calculated by taking speed and then subtracting the difference of strength from the weapon's weight if it was greater than zero.

    But what I still don't understand is what CON was used for.

    I haven't played in a while but I think con represented whether or not you could be carried by other people.

    In the NA releases for Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem SS (the GBA releases) character speed fell by (con - wt of equipped weapon). Nino for example had a con of 3, so she lost 1 spd to a stinking fire tome, and giving her excalibur was an exercise in frustration. Magic users in the aforementioned games did not have a 'str' stat.

    From Path of Radiance on, all characters had a str and mag stat and the speed penalty was calculated by (str - wt of equipped weapon).
