Pretty much. Its the same deal with Sasuke's fight with Lee before the Chunin Exams. Knowing what your opponent is going to do next is useless if you can't act fast enough to counter before you're hit! Sastori is all about danmaku and mind reading and even her little sister Koishi says she sucks at fighting. Yuugi on the other hand is already in melee range!
