Sho of the Thousand Brushstrokes
The Shodo heads were once human cursed to live as a human brush for desecrating shrines. Only after they finished a thousand scripts should they break the curse. Although bearers of ink magic, with little to no mobility, they could hardly make a brushstroke, let alone create a kana.
This toil went on for eons until the first human made a binding pact with the living brush heads. A boy named Sho would push and roll each of them to fulfill their thousand scripts toll, but, in exchange, he would have them teach him how to write.
He didn’t know that by learning from the Shodos, he would acquire the magic that comes with writing. The ancient scribes became the progenitor of ink users, with Sho as the first Inkmancer.
Sho, Master of the thousand brushstrokes, founded the way of writing. With the aid of the scribers, he began a literacy crusade where he found Shodo Dojos, preached art and spilled ink magic in every stroke and writing made henceforth.
