Huh, they definitely changed her a fair amount. She’s not as slender and cold-feeling as before. She definitely looks more like Nagato that’s for sure.

CN supposedly had a vote and they voted for the new one with 8% margin.

I've always been bothered by the loli capital ships in Azur Lane so this is a massive heartbreaker.

Eh it depends for me, someone like Cavour is a breath of fresh air but dealbreakers would be in the Mutsu range.

The old design was a lot better, but I guess what happens is they don't want to make a META ship differs too much from the original ships in proportion. If you superimpose the old design with the new one you can see that the old one depicts an older Nagato (with longer limbs, taller stature and less childish proportions) and a lot more detail in shading/coloring compared to the new design which frankly looks flat in both color and composition.

The new version is much better, Nagato was released from the basement where she was starved. But seriously, the first version is a raw AI generation, while the new one is refined and improved.

You can look at her hands for yourself in the previous version, look at her thigh, no artist would draw like that. It's sad that people don't want to see the truth and just downvoted my comment.

it does look lazy but her hand in the new art isn't that great either, also her eyes look like they were just pasted over her eye line, her new face seems rushed

I... honestly don't see any problems with the parts you pointed out. In fact, everything you've said so far is entirely subjective. Especially since the visual differences between the thighs and the hands between both images are negligible. What is noticeable is the removal of the trim on her dress and leggings and the red part of the dress is now entirely behind her causing a rather significant reduction in visual flair.
