You'd be surprised how much you can do without a keyboard. The On-Screen Keyboard is a blessing if your physical one isn't detected for some reason. Windows 7 lets you use it at the login screen, too. For this, I am very thankful; I once had to reinstall Windows XP because of a badly-coded virus that made my keyboard inert.
