This may be the first setback the mimics have ever suffered. The evil little mermaid would have probably gotten everything she wanted if she hadn't stopped to murder the pink-haired rookie to take her armor. As it stands, her body and soul were devoured by the treant. Apparently, the monsters are not all friendly toward each other, either, since the mermaid did not consider approaching the other mimics, and the treant attacks them on sight.
Anyway, so far, there appear to be two survivors: the pink-haired rookie and the brunette warrior whose cape, gauntlets, and greaves the mermaid acquired. No idea if it'll stay that way. I'm honestly still only following along to see if he commits to the whole party wipe. My guess is he will, and that these two escapes are merely a hope spot before he destroys them all.
The brunette was the one turned to stone by the fountain mimic.
I do wonder if this is just a mislead since it looks like the redhead knows the treant. Perhaps it just doesn't recognize her/it in that body? Or just has a powerful instinct to capture any bodies available.

If the treant could tell mimics from humans, it wouldn't have devoured the mermaid. I think it's unintelligent and runs on the basic instinct of prey drive. It's prey just happening to be women.
Though I think the girl with the hairband was probably snapped up by whatever monsters live in that river since her body disappeared really fast. And the treant would have probably grabbed her too if she was still there.
