Artist's commentary

  • Original

As the morning sun shined, I opened my eyes. I stretched my body a bit freely and my feathers puffed out, so I shook my body a little. Then I suddenly felt a strong hunger. My limbs felt weak, so I need to find some food somehow... Yet, this place is not my cage and there just cannot be a bowl full of bird feed like always.
We followed the small brown birds and arrived at a place where a lot of people have gathered. As I turned my eyes, there was a table full of food and human household supplies, and everyone was gathered there, including a person shouting in a loud voice, a person calling out to the others while holding food, and people who were arguing next to a textile shop.
"Hungry, aren't you? Follow those burly small birds, and we can definitely find something to eat." After seeing that I'm low in energy and looking around nervously, the white-haired bird told me. Like he said, I found a group of noisy small brown birds on a nearby rooftop.
The small brown birds flew down onto a cage, and were feeding on the bird feed scattered around the ground surface next to it. The white-haired bird and I also did the same. However, I never competed for food with the fellow birds of the outside before, so all I could eat were the grains that had been left over.
