AC's are badly misnamed. It's not the air that gets conditioned, it's you that gets conditioned.

I think you're joking, but it still kinda ticks me off. An air conditioner pulls unwanted heat from the conditioned space (inside) and deposits it in a place that doesn't matter (most often outside the building).
In fact, elderly people will sometimes complain about their AC being "broken" because they feel too warm/cold, when the system is working just fine because of thinking similar to this.

TL,DR AC cools a space (room), and that indirectly cools you down.

A-yup, I'm quite aware. Most people also mistakenly think that fans have anything to do with changing temperture.
