The 3rd of January is
The day of the return half of the Hakone ekiden!
A relay marathon in which 21 teams from universities in the Kantou region make a round trip from the building of the Yomiuri Shinbun in Tokyo to Lake Ashi in Hakone and back, totalling 217.1 km divided in two days!
They say that the 5th leg of the Hakone ekiden is the harshest one,It's pretty rough...with a difference in elevation of around 834m!
Since it's a round trip, the 5th and 6th legs of the race are the same path, back and forth. The 5th leg is apparently known as The Mountain Climb as it's mostly uphill, and it's the last leg of the first day of the race (on the 2nd of January). The 6th leg is, accordingly, known as The Mountain Descent, and is the first leg of the second day of the race (on the 3rd of January).University of HakugyokurouPun on her name. 4 (Yo) — (extended vowel character) 6 (mu). 4—6 → Yoomu → YoumuAll this going up and down
