That plane looks like it was based off of the Stratolaunch aircraft. Right down to how the payload is placed in between the two fuselages. It makes sense, given how the Stratolaunch aircraft can carry a two-hundred fifty ton payload.

Stratolaunch wasn't the first with the concept, tho'. Myasishchev and Conroy (to name a couple) both drew up similar ideas decades before Scaled Composites thought of using it. Given one of Conroy's designs planned to used B-52 components to transport the Space Shuttle between twin fuselages, one could say Scaled probably got their inspiration from that. Of course, if the design this artist hashed out goes back to the original anime...definitely not Stratolauch based.
