Maybe they were worried fans would compare her to Makoto from BlazBlue? Granted, Suirrel Girl has been around for far, far longer than Makoto, but its not like a lot of Japanese fans would know that...

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if more people knew about Makoto than know about Squirrel Girl. She's a gag character from Marvel and is only funny because she humiluates notable villians like Dr. Doom and Thanos. The punch line being her victories are canon. Sorta.
