It WAS glorious until the modeler decided to throw a hissy fit being an ass and sabotaging the updates, so yeah he basically ruined the whole Touhou Fortress 2 project. So if the updates really break the skins, there's no fixing them. (Since the models don't have their data like Jiggle bones and such)

Not to worry, they kicked the old modeler out and started from scratch. All they need now is modelers.

Reisen should get a spot on here...

Nobody really should be able to: I don't care how heavy your weapons guy is. But Marisa would be perfect for it. Danmaku is power, etc.

As much as I wish this was a possibility, the way models work won't allow for it without some fancy footwork that no one wants to do + would have to be done by the person adding the models so we don't want to force people to learn how. Also, some of the suggestions you gave were already brought up and scrapped (not that we're even thinking of alt models at this point of production, so they MIGHT be revisited). As to why Yuuka is the soldier:
If grazing is sure to result in victory, then you must GRAZE!

Plenty of reasons, ranging from Touhou's niche status in the west may not make it worth the trouble all the way to TF2's violent nature would make any official Touhou mod of it require the game's violence be toned down to perhaps a T-rating standard.

Here's how I always imagined how it would go:
Around the time of the next main Touhou game launching, Valve receives their 20th email regarding the series. Finally, they decide to check it out. They think it's nothing special at first, but soon find a common ground with TF2: hats. (Or, at least, so they would say in the blog post.) They then contact ZUN about doing a crossover project, which he agrees to, leading to Touhou 14, 15, whatever to be released on Steam. Along with that, a new update is released for TF2, including a fairly large number of Touhou-themed weapons and hats. And, as with any major TF2 update, they will release a comic detailing the "plot" of how this came to be. Simultaneously, an official Touhou doujin will be released, which is the same as the TF2 comic, but on the other side of the border.
Of course, most of this is just wishful thinking.
