軍扇 战扇

A hand fan designed for use in warfare. Several types of war fans were used by the samurai class of feudal Japan and each had a different look and purpose.

There are three kinds of war fan:

• Gunsen: A folding fan used by soldiers to cool themselves off.
• Tessen: A metallic hand fan used as a weapon.
• Gunbai: A hand fan used by military officers to communicate with their troops, or by sumo referees.
