A traditional Mongolian headdress for married women. It was widely worn by noblewomen during the Mongol Empire and Yuan Dynasty.
A boqta has a round base, a tall column, and a square top. It stands about meter tall and is worn over a hood into which the wearer would put up her hair in a chignon. It is fastened to the head with a chinstrap.
In Chinese, it's known as a Guguguan, or Gugu hat.
