A misspelling of "chaise longue" (French for "long chair) common in North America, due to a typo/misspelling of the furniture's name during its introduction into North America. This term has come to now refer to two similar pieces of furniture, the indoor sofa called a chaise longue and the outdoor chair called a sun lounger/lounge chair.
