    ツユクサ 露草

Commelina, commonly called dayflower, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Commelinaceae. Commonly represented by Commelina communis (Asiatic dayflower), native to East and Southeast Asia.

Commelinas are small flowers that are usually blue, but they also come in shades of white, yellow, purple, and pink. The flowers emerge from a boat-like sheath called a spathe that surrounds the flower stem. Common species, such as the Asiatic dayflower, have a distinctive appearance: The flowers appear to have only two petals at the top, but there is actually a third, inconspicuous white petal at the bottom. They also have a distinctive pistil and stamens that curve upward.
