A northern Germanic runic script, characterized by their straight lines due to their supposed derivation from tossing divination twigs or bones and reading the patterns where they land. The elder variant was transplanted into Britain during the Saxon invasion, while the younger variation was used by the Vikings.

Made famous among CRPG circles by their use in the Ultima series of games, Futhark runes are a go-to rune for something meant to be obscure but also recognizably Western and Medieval.
