Jean often directly speaks his mind, causing him to conflict with Eren Yeager due to their differing viewpoints. At first, wanting to join the Military Police, he changes his mind after the fall of Wall Maria and enlists in the Scouting Legion. Jean is visibly attracted to Mikasa Ackerman and is jealous of Eren's closeness with her.
