Failed clones of Metroids, significantly weaker and barely able to latch on to their prey. They are first seen in Super Metroid, as holograms in the demo release of Metroid Prime Hunters, and in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Physically they share almost every trait a standard Metroid larva does, but have only one nucleus instead of the usual four.
