Though she claims to be unaffected by it, she shows a deep level of cynicism and insecurity regarding her chronic tendency to get third place in anything and everything (a trait shared by the real-life horse's racing career), and puts up a defensive front of calling herself a "side character" to deflect, even though she takes races surprisingly seriously and proves to be exceptionally harsh on herself whenever she tries to be ambitious.
