An attack where a swarm of missiles is launched from a starfighter or mecha at a target or targets, regardless of tactical necessity.
It's often characterized by the twisting, turning, and crisscrossing missile trails as the missiles or energy beams travel along curved trajectories for no apparent reason before suddenly veering to hit the the target (an effect that's been dubbed Roboteching in the West, after Robotech).
Named after anime artist, animation director, and producer Itano Ichirou, and primarily comes from the anime franchise Macross, for which it is also called the Macross Missile Massacre.
