鞘

Saya (鞘) is a Japanese scabbard. Traditionally done in lightweight lacquered wood.

Components

• Koiguchi: the mouth of the scabbard or its fitting
• Kojiri: scabbard's end cap, chape
• Kurigata: knob on the side of the scabbard for attaching the sageo
• Sageo: cord, passed through the kurigata for tying the scabbard to the belt
