The VF-1J Armored is a variant of the VF-1Jvariable fighter equipped with modular reactive armor similar in function to that of modern tanks. Once used it can be jettisoned to save weight and make the mecha lighter and faster.
The armor packages are also equipped with several missile pods, which greatly increase the mecha's firepower. However, the VF-1J is stuck in battroid mode while equipped with the armor, being only capable of transforming into fighter or gerwalk modes once the armor modules are removed during combat or jettisoned by the pilot.
