Yuan Chonghuan（袁崇焕） was a military strategist during the late Ming Dynasty of China (June 6, 1584 – September 22, 1630). He fought against the Manchu military forces in Northeast China many times, but was executed by the emperor for failing to quell the Manchu invasion within the five years he promised.
