A type of quick bread with a golden-brown crust and a soft, crumbly interior.
Distinguished from cookies (British biscuits) by their soft texture and complete lack of sweetness. Biscuits are a common breakfast food in North America, particularly in the Southern United States where they may be eaten with any meal, but restaurant chains like KFC have helped export them to Japan as well.
