butterfly net

A type of hand net used for capturing butterflies. For tagging purposes this is used for any type of net used for capturing bugs.

A butterfly net has a fine lightweight mesh netting to prevent damaging the wings of a butterfly. For capturing bugs from brush and vegetation a sweep net is used. The netting of a sweep net is typically made of sturdier material than a butterfly net, such as sail cloth.
