button-down collar
A shirt collar with buttons holding it down.
Originally designed by Brooks Brothers in 1900 after Henry S. Brooks noticed that polo players secured their collars to their shirts with safety pins so they would not flap around while riding. Unlike a traditional dress shirt, a button-down collar is less formal and more sporty.
