The "Black Cat of Bad Omens". Stage 2 midboss and boss, as well as Extra Stage midboss of Touhou's Perfect Cherry Blossom.
She is the nekomata shikigami of Yakumo Ran (who is herself the shikigami of Yakumo Yukari). Despite her knowledge of black magic, Chen is rather weak by herself, only gaining a massive increase in power in the presence of her master. She is also weakened by water. Like Ran, Chen is actually the shikigami spirit possessing the nekomata, although she appears to have only a partial hold on her host and doesn't suppress the host's personality, resulting in Chen as a character being a symbiosis between the two.
Fanworks frequently portray her as a daughter figure to Ran, often exuding a level of cuteness that often gives her excessive nosebleeds. She is also considered an honorary member of Team 9 in some fanwork circles. She appears to have befriended Kaenbyou Rin in Foul Detective Satori, who has passed on her habit of finding and retrieving dead bodies.
Appearance
She has short brown hair and brown eyes, cat ears with a single earring, and two cat tails. Her outfit is a green mob cap, a long-sleeved white shirt, a matching red vest and skirt with frills, white socks, and black mary janes.
