Choking on something (normally food) stuck inside the windpipe/neck, blocking or restricting airflow.
Choking is not the same thing as strangling. A strangle is from the outside the neck, a choke is from the inside the neck. Choking and strangling are different types of asphyxiation (being unable to breathe).
