Demetrius Desmond is the elder son of Donovan and Melinda Desmond, and the elder brother of Damian Desmond. A natural genius and top-class student, Demetrius has already become an Imperial Scholar and continues to regularly score Stella. This puts due pressure on his brother Damian to perform to the same excruciating standards.
Demetrius appears to take after his father, but is not implied to be a misanthrope like Donovan. Rather, he seems to be incapable of understanding people and finds human interactions pointless and tiresome. Furthermore, Anya cannot read his mind at all; whenever she tries, his thoughts appear to resemble ambient noise.
Visually, Demetrius resembles both of his parents, possessing his father's thousand-yard stare and black hair with locks similar to his mother's. As an Imperial Scholar, Demetrius is clad in a black cape.
