Antagonist in Final Fantasy VIII. A sorceress (魔女 majo, "witch").
At the beginning of disc 3, the player learns that Edea had been possessed by the game's main antagonist, Ultimecia. In the past she was "Matron" to the orphaned party members, raising them in an orphanage with her husband Cid Kramer.
She cameos in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT as an alternate costume for Ultimecia.
