The FN SCAR (Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle) is a family of gas-operated short-stroke gas piston rifles developed by FN Herstal in 2004. Originally developed for US special forces, the SCAR platform would be adopted as a standard weapon by several nations, including Belgium, Portugal, Kenya, Finnish Special Forces, and others. The SCAR was also provided in large numbers to Ukraine, which is where it has seen the most combat use.
There are two major variants, the SCAR-L (light) assault rifle and the SCAR-H (heavy) battle rifle. The weapon is quite recognizable by its ugg boot-shaped adjustable folded stock.
