gladiator

A warrior who fights (often unwillingly) as a form of mass entertainment, in a colosseum or other arena.

The arms and armor of such fighters tend towards the spectacular-but-impractical, since spectacle is the whole point. In fantasy works, men often will be bare-chested, while women often will be wearing bikini armor.

Historically, gladiators originate in the ancient Roman Empire.
