A mecha from the Gundam franchise. It first appeared in Zeta Gundam from 1985.
RX-178 Gundam Mk. II
A revised and much improved redesign of the original RX-78-2 Gundam mobile suit developed by Franklin Bidan for the Earth Federation Titans in U.C. 0087. It has better, more advanced and powerful weaponry, a panoramic 360° monitor, linear seats, movable frame technology as well as higher speed and maneuverability, but with standard armor.
While in testing under the Titans, the sinister looking dark blue colored prototypes were stolen by Quattro Bajeena and the AEUG with the help of Kamille Bidan, who went on to pilot the sole surviving unit before switching to his own designed mobile suit, the Zeta Gundam. The Mk. II was later repainted white while at the service of the AEUG (to evoke the iconic look of the legendary original Gundam from The One Year War).
It was also operated by Quattro and Emma Sheen during The Gryps Conflict, and various different members of the Gundam Team during the events of Gundam ZZ (First Neo Zeon War), more prominently Elle Vianno. The unit was abandoned in the Axis asteroid after being severely damaged during the final battle of The First NZ War. However, it was retrieved by NZ (before the Second Neo Zeon War) and later given to Banagher Links by Mineva Lao Zabi some time after The Laplace Conflict.
