In real life, "hardsuit" is a general term for diving suits, spacesuits and (hypothetically) powered armor that enclose the operators' limbs and torso with a rigid shell. However, in anime fandom, the word is specifically used to refer to the powered armor suits worn by the Knight Sabers in Bubblegum Crisis, Bubblegum Crash! and Bubblegum Crisis 2040.
