head bump

An exaggerated, cartoonish swelling on the head caused by minor injury to it. Frequently appears in conjunction with crossed bandaids.

Used for comedic effect, in order to soften depictions of physical violence in light-hearted material. Often, the violence might happen off-screen and not be seen at all, especially if it is punishment for some misdeed that is seen. They seldom last longer than one scene, and virtually never represent serious injuries.

If someone is bumping their head against another person's head, use headbutt instead.
