Dr. Ian Malcolm is a mathematician who specializes in a branch of mathematics known as "Chaos Theory". Malcolm is the tritagonist of the Jurassic Park franchise, serving as the tritagonist of Jurassic Park, the main protagonist of The Lost World: Jurassic Park, one of the three unseen overarching protagonists of Jurassic World, a minor character in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and one of the three overarching protagonists of Jurassic World: Dominion. Malcolm appears in both novels by Michael Crichton. Malcolm serves as the mouthpiece of Crichton, who called Malcolm the "ironic commentator" on the action. In the movies, Malcolm is portrayed by Jeff Goldblum. Malcolm also appeared in most other Jurassic media like comics, video games and toy lines.
