Kantai Collection's personification of the USS Johnston (hull number DD-557), 75th of the US Navy's 175 Fletcher-class destroyers.

Compared to Samuel B. Roberts, Johnston is much taller and slightly more well-endowed with long pinkish brown hair tied into a two side up style and brown eyes.

She wears a stylized serafuku which consists of an off-shoulder blue shirt with a black sailor collar that exposes her cleavage and short black pleated skirt, along with black thighhighs held by garter straps with what seem to be metallic thigh and shin guards and red rudder shoes. Johnston's damaged CG has her stripped of some of her clothing, revealing a bit of her black underwear.

On her left hand she wears a single black glove, an oblique reference to the injuries to the left hand sustained by her captain, Commander Ernest E. Evans, including losing two fingers. Draped on her left upper arm is the Medal of Honor, referencing the one posthumously awarded to Commander Evans for his actions in the Battle off Samar.

Her rigging consists of two smokestacks and three of her Mark 12 5-inch/38 caliber gun turrets, with one set on each side of her rigging and a third handheld turret in her right hand. Her hull number is emblazoned on each side of her lower rigs.

Her namesake is Navy Lieutenant John V. Johnston, who fought for the Union from 1862 to 1864 during the American Civil War. She is the game's first bona fide American destroyer, despite the fact that destroyer escort Samuel B. Roberts was already classified as a destroyer in the game.
