lavalier microphone

A small microphone attached to a person's shirt or clothing.

They are most commonly attached to shirt collars, lapels, neckties, or other clothing to allow for hands-free operation in television, theater, and public speaking settings. The cord may be hidden by clothes and either run to a radio transmitter kept in a pocket or clipped to a belt, or routed directly to the mixer or a recording device.
