mason jar
A glass canning jar with a sealable screw-top lid, named after its designer, John Landis Mason. Nowadays, often used as kitschy glassware by hipsters and "rustic" restaurants; in fact, mason jars that don't have real threads at the top, and so can't actually be used for canning food, can be had for the purpose.
