meringue

A type of confection of French origin, traditionally made mainly from whipped egg whites and sugar which gives them a light, airy texture similar to whipped cream. They can be used as an ingredient or toppings of various desserts like lemon meringue pie or baked alaska, or baked into meringue cookie.
