moped
A low-powered two-wheeled motor vehicle that uses bicycle pedals to assist the engine with hill-climbing and pedaling away from a stationary position. The term moped originates from the Swedish words motor and pedaler.
Some mopeds have a step-through design while others use a conventional motorcycle frame. At the lighter end of the scale, there is some overlap between mopeds and motorized bicycles.
Not to be confused with a scooter, which has a flat platform for the feet instead of bicycle pedals.
