Narara Superboard (날아라슈퍼보드) is a 1988 manwha written and illustrated by Youngman Heo (Heo Hyeong-man). It is based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. After Sun Wukong (Sonogong)is punished for causing trouble in heaven, Xuangzuang Sanzang (Samjang Bupsa) rescues him. Sun Wukong decides to become Xuangzuang's disciple and joins his mission to rid the world of evil and spread peace throughout the land.
The original manwha was initially published in Cartoon Kingdom magazine in April 1988 under the title Son-ssi (Mr. Son). As this was around the same time as Dragon Ball was being published, the name was changed to Superboard from 1989 onwards. Its animated adaptation began airing August 21, 1990 and was titled Narara Superboard. Narara Superboard became a cultural phenomenon in South Korea and would air until January 11, 2002.
