Kilij
nomadic saber (weapon)
A type of single bladed, single handed curved sword that originates from the Eurasian steppe. Also known as the Turco-Mongol saber and Eurasian saber.
After the Turkic and Mongolic conquests, this type of sword spread throughout Europe, Asia and North Africa, where it developed certain distinctive regional characteristics. It is often referred to by it's regional names like shamshir and kilij, or by names like Mameluke sword.
In Europe, it would later develop into the saber. This tag should not be used for Western European military and dueling sabers.
