padded room
A kind of room or cell found in mental hospitals or special ed settings, with cushions lining the walls (and sometimes the floor) to prevent patients from hurting themselves against any hard surfaces. Their use in modern times is often criticized, with some evidence of public schools using them to punish minor behavioral problems.
