panapp

A female character from The Super Dimension Fortress Macross science fiction and mecha TV anime series from 1982.

Panapp (パナップ Panapu) is a U.N. Spacy female officer who is part of the team that controls the Pin-Point Barrier System on the SDF-1 Macross. She also works as a substitute bridge operator during the series.

She is named after a brand of popular Japanese ice cream, also called "panapp". Since 1978 Glico company has produced this type of multi-layered ice cream cup. Due to time constraints many members of the original MACROSS production staff used to consume lots of this type of junk food, snacks and other treats during the long periods of work needed to complete the anime.
