A stretched layering of fabric over a circular frame, mounted and placed directly in front of a microphone, especially a studio microphone. It is a piece of equipment used in professional vocal recording setups to reduce the incidence of undesirable percussive effects of air created by the human voice, as well as to keep the microphone clean from saliva.
