predacon

"Predacon" can refer to three groups of robots within the Transformers franchise.

-A subfaction of Decepticons in the original Transformers series first appearing in 1986. They are a group of aggressive warriors that turn into robotic animals, and are capable of combining to form the giant robot Predaking. They consist of Razorclaw, Rampage, Divebomb, Headstrong, and Tantrum. This group is referred to as "Animatrons" in the Japanese version.

-The main villain faction of the Beast Wars series. Descendants of the Decepticons, they tend to become animals such as reptiles, insects, amphibians, and crustaceans. They are led by the Predacon Megatron, who shares his name with the original Decepticon Megatron but is a separate entity. In Japan, they are referred to as Destrons, the same name used for the Decepticons in most Japanese releases.

-A faction in the third and final season of Transformers: Prime. These Predacons were a form of prehistoric life on Cybertron before going extinct. They were revived in the present day by Decepticon cloning experiments to use as an army. As the third season of Prime was not dubbed in Japan, the Predacons were given a different role and backstory as part of Transformers Go! instead.
