protect gear

プロテクトギア

The iconic power armor seen in the Kerberos Saga, most notably the 1999 anime film Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade.

In the series' alternate history, the protect gears were developed by the Germans during World War II and allowed them to beat the Soviets. It consists of a set of metal body armor, with a Stahlhelm and a tubed gas mask with glowing eyes, plus a metal backpack with two radio antennas.

The protect gears are used by personnel of the Japanese Capital Police Special Unit "Kerberos" (also known as "Panzer Cops"), who are armed with MG42 machine guns (although originally MG34's in the series' first intallment, Akai Megane).

The design is clearly inspired by the soldiers of Nazi Germany during World War II (as well as the Stormtroopers of Imperial Germany in World War I), and has influenced quite a lot of fictional soldier designs, such as Killzone, Fallout, Wolfenstein, Helldivers, and even Scooby-doo.
