ryuusou

琉装 (Ryuusou, "Ryukyuan clothes") or 琉球衣装 (Ryūkyū clothes)

Okinawan traditional clothes of the Ryuyu (Ryūkyū/Ryuukyuu) Kingdom, usually used for ceremonial occasions and Ryukyuan dance. Unlike Japanese kimono, a Ryukyuan dress is not supposed to be worn with an obi.

Examples

bingata | Brightly-colored dyed cloth, often featuring wisteria print.

hanagasa | Flower-shaped hat worn in traditional dance ceremonies.
